“The Fruits of the Spirit are indications of God’s presence at work in us,”
— Thomas Keating
St. Francis often linked the “fragrance” of a holy life to the inner workings of the Holy Spirit, a theme frequently Echoed by Pope Francis.“The Fruits of the Spirit are indications of God’s presence at work in us.”
Pentecost celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit poured out among us and within us. Love, Joy, Peace, Kindness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Goodness, Patience, and Self-Control are the Fruits of the Spirit, given to us as a way of living rooted in God’s life.
This Day of Prayer invites us to be nourished by the Spirit in a loving community. We will become aware of how these Fruits naturally ripen as we deepen our life in God, and how they long to grow and mature.
During our time together, we will:
- Engage in contemplative practices such as quiet prayer, lectio divina, spiritual journaling
- Explore how the Fruits of the Spirit are already present and unfolding
- Give ourselves time for renewal, reflection, and deep listening to the Spirit
Together, we will become more attentive to the Fruits of the Spirit as living sources of sustenance for ourselves, our relationships, and the world. We will deepen our understanding of how the Fruits can grow in our lives, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide us into the steady flow of Divine Love.
