About the Event
How should we travel in these times?
“May you go forward securely, joyfully, and swiftly” advised St. Clare of Assisi, who “cast the anchor of her soul in God,” and was always in relation with others as she moved forward into God. How might her life and writings illuminate pathways to be strengthened, more resilient, as we proceed in these challenging times with love?
During this retreat, we will explore and engage with St. Clare’s practical advice:
- Embrace our humanity, our journey, and our need for God.
- Be open. “Let neither bitterness nor a cloud overwhelm you,” Clare writes, then offers her steps in prayer for a transformed attitude as well as carefully worded advice to deal with challenges;
- “Transform your entire being into the image of God through contemplation,” she writes. Gazing on the poor Christ leads us deeper into contemplation, integral to our identity and our development in God.
- Become models and mirrors of God’s abundant love to one another, to others.
- Follow the footprints of Jesus Christ. Journey towards reconciliation and to God’s Indwelling, “the incomparable treasure hidden in the field of the world and of the human heart,” allowing ourselves to be transformed into the image of Christ for others.
We will surely find a glimpse of God working along our journeys, and receive advice for going forward, inward and outward, with confidence, peace and joy.
