The Catechism of the Catholic Church emphasizes that “a well-formed conscience is upright and truthful” and that “[t]he education of the conscience is a lifelong task.” Pope Francis’ “Amoris Laetitia,” makes several references to the importance of Catholics’ individual consciences in issues related to family life.

According to a 2016 Pew Research Poll, about eight-in-ten U.S. Catholics (84%) say they depend “a lot” on their own research in the decision-making process. Advice from family was the second most popular choice among Catholics, with half saying they rely a lot on relatives.

Yet, according to the movie “Social Dilemma,” our minds are being manipulated and even rewired by algorithms that are designed to get our attention and make us buy things, including buying into distorted ideas about the world, ourselves, and each other.  How do we form a conscience and weigh the accuracy and veracity of the information and misinformation with which we are bombarded?

Join Fr. Tom Bonacci for this 4-part evening series via Zoom.  There will be opportunities to discuss and raise questions which Fr. Tom will use to guide his presentations.

About Our Speaker

We are pleased to welcome back our friend and popular speaker Fr. Tom Bonacci.

Tom is the Executive Director of the Interfaith Peace Project.  He offers friendly and hospitable programs to help participants cope with inherited stereotypes, innocent misunderstandings, embarrassing questions or general knowledge of the many faith traditions of humankind. “There are very few people who realize what God would make of them…In calling me to live my special qualities and characteristics, God planted deep in myself an original purpose…what my concrete self adds up to and to live out.” – St. Ignatius of Loyola

Life is about facing and managing change—career, personal, family, spiritual. This retreat is an opportunity to reflect on your life and your faith, exploring avenues for new opportunities. You will engage practical career transition content, poetry, and prayer which will allow you to begin clarifying vocational needs and goals.

We all need a vision for our gifts—and language to describe our career/life objectives to ourselves and others. Life-SHIFT will include a variety of activities including discussion, personal writing, film, music, reflective solitude, using the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and one to one consultation. Each participant will set goals, develop resources for change while experiencing imaginative ways to know God’s presence on the journey.

Recommended ahead of time, but not required:  View “The Social Dilemma.”  Available on Netflix https://www.netflix.com/title/81254224

About Our Speaker

We are pleased to welcome back our friend and popular speaker Fr. Tom Bonacci.

Fr. Tom is the Executive Director of the Interfaith Peace Project.  He offers friendly and hospitable programs to help participants cope with inherited stereotypes, innocent misunderstandings, embarrassing questions or general knowledge of the many faith traditions of humankind. Tom was ordained in 1972 for the Passionist Religious Order of the Roman Catholic Church, and is recognized for his scriptural scholarship.

“A man of vision, Tom’s programs are less about learning of differences and similarities in religions, and more about understanding, respecting and connecting to all humankind.” — George D’Angelo, Ph.D., Founder, UN International Day of Peace Vigil.
