Coming Out of Exile: Welcoming Home What Our Spirit Is Missing
As we grow into wholeness we discover within ourselves aspects that need to be recognized, accepted, and integrated into our life. How do we call home these parts of ourselves that have been lost, ignored, forgotten, forced away or rejected? As we discover these banished aspects of ourselves and welcome them as catalysts for our spiritual transformation, we grow in being a source for social transformation and contribute to greater peace for others in exile. This retreat day invites participants to ponder and integrate what longs to return home in themselves. Joyce will encourage a compassionate calling forth of what has been displaced by the use of song, prayer, presentations, quiet reflection, journaling, and dialogue.
Presenter: Joyce Rupp is well known for her work as a writer, a spiritual “midwife,” and retreat and conference speaker. She has led retreats throughout North America, as well as in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Joyce has a B.A. in English, a M.R.E. in Religious Education, and a M.A. in Transpersonal Psychology. She is a member of the Servites (Servants of Mary) community and was a volunteer for Hospice for fifteen years. She currently resides in Des Moines, Iowa.
The leadership of the US Franciscans have issued a statement against the president’s recent travel ban:
The recent actions of President Donald J. Trump regarding the treatment of immigrants and
refugees entering our country have been troubling to a wide ranging group of citizens across the
United States. As Franciscans, we are morally outraged by and resolutely denounce the January 27,
2017 Executive Order addressing the U.S. immigrant and refugee admission program.
